  • Centre for Underutilised Crops (CUC) is a specialised research and education unit within the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment of the University of Southampton. Its work includes value chain analysis, improvement of production systems, post-harvest management and processing techniques, development of training materials for small scale entrepreneurs and information synthesis and dissemination to a wide range of stakeholder.
  • The PAVUC (producing added value from underutilised fruit crops with high commercial potential) project was funded by the EU and completed in 2010. The project had 4 key strands: nutritional and functional characterisation; quality, safety and innovation; processing technologies; development of market access.
  • The Information Network on Post-harvest Operations (INPhO)Ā  provides access to technical data and information by promoting best practices in post-harvest activities for agricultural products and to assist in the expansion of agribusiness. This information resource is managed by the Rural Infrastructure and Agro-Industries Division (AGS) of FAO.
  • Platform for Agrobiodiversity Research (PAR) aims to support the development of knowledge needed to maintain and use agro biodiversity optimally which is essential for a sustainable improvement in food and nutrition security.
  • Crops for the FutureĀ  is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of neglected and underutilised plant species as a contribution to humanity. It evolved from the International Centre for Underutilised Crops and the Global Facilitation Unit for Underutilized Species.
  • Vietnam Fruit & Vegetables Association (VINAFRUIT) is a voluntary and non-government organisation of Vietnam including individuals and companies from all economic sectors, operating in production, processing and trade of fruit and vegetables. The Associationā€™s aims are to strengthen the linkages and mutualĀ collaboration (economic and technical) in production, trade and services.
  • Vegetables- Flowers- Fruits (VFF) Website of Vietnam belongs to the national program of promoting production and export of vegetables, flowers and fruit of Vietnam. It provides information about domestic and international market trends, new technologies and innovations and VFF industry forecasts. It also focuses on important products including fresh and processed fruits, vegetables and valuable cut flowers.
  • International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet) is an independent and self-financing global network set up under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). It is both intergovernmental and inter institutional in nature. Its mandate and role is to promote sustainable development of the tropical fruit industry globally in relation to production, post-harvest handling, processing, marketing, consumption and international trade.
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical control Point (HACCP) system andĀ  guidelines for its application (FAO corporate document repository)The HACCP system, which is science based and systematic, identifies specific hazards and measures for their control to ensure the safety of food. HACCP is a tool to assess hazards and establish control systems that focus on prevention rather than relying mainly on end-product testing. Any HACCP system is capable of accommodating change, such as advances in equipment design, processing procedures or technological developments.
  • The Food Safety Knowledge Network Platform and Approach (FSKN). The FSKN began as collaboration between Michigan State University and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) of the Paris-based Consumer Goods Forum and now includes several knowledge development and funding partners.Ā  The specific aims of the FSKN are to develop internationally recognized competences in relation to food safety for individuals at all levels and in all sectors of the food supply chain, and promote knowledge transfer within the food safety community.
